Looking into the Future. What’s in Store?

A full year of this review blog is in the bag and I could not be happier or more grateful to everyone who follows me or who has read my blog in this past year.

There’s still work to be done, as this is a learning process for me as well, so while I will continue to post weekly with either a review or my musings, small things might be tweaked here and there.  Colors, images, things like that.  Bear with me friends.

Let’s dive in to what this year will bring!

Last year, I had no idea what I needed to do so I was all over the place with books and reviews and all sorts of things. This year, I have a tiny smidge of an idea.  In a previous post I wrote how I spite ordered the Book of the Month Club just so I could get The Love Hypothesis.  I now have all of these books and they’re beginning to stack up!  I figured I’d better start reading them!

Heck yes, I spite order!

One of my reviews every month will try to be one of the books I ordered from BotM.  We’ll see how that goes.  I’ll also be reviewing older books as well. Not too old but not all of my books this year are going to be new releases. I figure it might be interesting to pick up something from a previous decade and see how it stood up to a current day reading.  I’ve been enjoying last year’s goal of reading something by LGBTQ and BiPOC authors so that will be continuing.

There are new books to review!  The latest from S. A. Asthana releases in February so look for that review in either late February or early March. If J.R. Lawrie, Freya Marske, or Alexandria Bellefluer release anything in 2022, I’ll be on that like a cat on a laser pointer. There are rumors that Nella Warrant will be releasing her newest book, so I’ll be on that too!

But the biggest news for Mouse’s Reading Nook is that a week in July will be spent in London!  Eight whole days of new experiences, with both seeing the hometown of Jane Austen as well as all the Sherlock Holmes sites. I’ve never even been out of the United States, so this is going to be a huge thing.  While I’m still deciding if the blog will have a week off or if I’ll schedule a post, be ready for when the blog returns. There will be pictures!

Finally!

So what books are on the horizon for reading?  Well friends, I have Love and Other Disasters by Anita Kelly, How to marry Keanu Reeves in 90 Days by K.M. Jackson, Everything We Didn’t Say by Nicole Baart, The Stone Mermaid by Aisha Urooj, Seeds of Discontent by S.A. Asthana, and Hana Khan Carries On by Usma Jalaluddin, author of the wonderful book Ayesha at Last.  After that, it’s all up in the air so if you have a recommendation, I am always happy to take those. If anyone can recommend a good horror or thriller for the upcoming year, I would be most obliged.

Every book I recommend or review has a link where you can buy it. Just click on the book title and off it takes you! I want to make it as quick and painless for my friends to read my review and buy the book if it interests you! Support writers, especially small press and independent ones. They’re amazing for even publishing a book, the least we can do as avid readers is support their hard work.

Money helps. So does coffee, I hear.

This has turned into sort of a new year’s resolution post: read more!  Fine, if 2022 is going to twist my arm about it.

New Year, new books. Happy reading my friends and as always, curl up in your favorite spot with a good drink and a good book.
